“A Colorful Macaw family in The Parrot Jungle, Red Road, Miami, Florida.” Standard Size, Linen, Pub. by Tichnor Bros., Unmailed, stock #0929 $6.00
Opened in 1936, Parrot Jungle was developed by Franz Scherr, owner of a feed store in Homestead, Florida. The amusement park was located south of Miami on Red Road, and featured free-flying tropical birds in a beautiful setting of exotic plants and flowers. In 2003 Parrot Jungle was relocated to Watson Island and renamed Parrot Jungle Island. In 2007 it was renamed yet again to simply, Jungle Island. Postcard views of Parrot Jungle can be found in both linen and chrome cards, and are usually colorful as the park itself.
